Basic Features
What are the basics for NT? You have the following methods available for getting around and administering your site:
Telnet - Is not Available do to security reasons.
FTP - Full FTP access available. (Make sure you use ASCII mode for HTML files and binary for everything else!). Additional accounts available over the 5 standard per Full Virtual account. Because IIS is setup to key off of your username, when you login via FTP, it will show your present directory as being your domain name, i.e. /domain, even though you will actually be in the physical directory E:\yourdomain. Don't let this confuse you. Also, the FTP is setup to emulate the Unix style of output. If you use an FTP client that tries to detect your system type (WS_FTP or the like), it may erroneously (?) detect NT when it should be set to Unix style.
Anonymous FTP - Although it's not exactly standard anonymous FTP, we can simulate it fairly closely with Microsoft IIS. You can create a directory for your 'anonymous' users, and then notify us that you need a new user created for this directory and what the password should be (because of this limitation in NT, this one would be at no extra cost). We suggest that you use a name that incorporates the word 'guest', i.e. if your domain is joes-bait-shack.com, you might choose 'jbsguest'. We would then make this user's home directory the subdirectory that you created. Your users would still FTP to joes-bait-shack.com, but instead of 'anonymous', they would use 'jbsguest' as the login. That's about as close as you can get with Microsoft and Virtual Domains.
